PRAGUE (ICIS news)--Poland's Rafinerie Trzebinia's biodiesel production may be technically illegal and this could lead to a maximum fine of Zloty100m ($32.6m/€25.4m), the company, which has commissioned a legal firm to examine the claims, said on Thursday.

The PKN Orlen subsidiary, the country's largest biodiesel producer, said Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office (URE) had informed it that as the president had not yet signed any biofuels legislation, its 100,000 tonnes/year of biodiesel production might be deemed an infringement of the law.

Trzebinia was working on doubling its biodiesel production potential by the end of this year.
