LONDON (ICIS news)--Neste Oil said on Friday it has signed contracts with Finnish companies Honkajoki and Findest Protein for the supply of animal fat to its proposed 170,000 tonnes/year biodiesel plant in Porvoo, Finland.

The company noted though that animal fat procured in the new contracts would be insufficient to run the plant, and more suppliers of raw materials were needed.

The new facility, due on-stream in summer 2007, is capable of using a flexible input of any vegetable oil or animal fat.

“Using byproducts unsuitable for food use in this way to produce high-quality biodiesel will increase the added value of these products and is in line with the goals of the European Union”, said Neste Oil in a statement.
