Mitsui Chemicals running Kashima TDI unit at 80%

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)-- Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethanes is operating its 120,000 tonnes/year toluene diisocyantes (TDI) plant at Kashima, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan at around 80% capacity, a company source said on Monday.

The plant, which was restarted last Friday, was earlier shut down on 8 September due to technical problems.

The force majeure declared on the plant after the shutdown was withdrawn on 15 September after many of its customers requested it to fulfil part of their orders by making partial shipments, instead of stopping shipment totally.

Its other 120,000 tonnes/year TDI plant in Ohmuta, Fukuoka Prefecture, wasn’t affected.
