SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Australia’s Mission Biofuels is to invest RM100m ($27.2m/€21.4m) to build its first 100,000 tonnes/year biodiesel project in Pahang, Malaysia, a company official said on Wednesday.

Crown Iron Works will provide the technology as well as commission the project for which construction begun in May this year.
The plant can use multiple feedstocks such as crude palm oil, refined bleached and deodorised (RBD) palm oil, RBD palm olein, soya, rapeseed and good quality virgin oils.

The company has also received approval from the Malaysian government to expand its biodiesel capacity to 350,000 tonnes/year in a later stage, he added. It has yet to decide when to carry out the expansion which will cost around AUD$50m ($37.5m/€29.6m).
The licence will allow the company to produce palm fatty acid distillate and glycerine as by-products.
