Biofuels Corp cuts Teesside biodiesel rates

LONDON (ICIS news)--Biofuels Corporation reduced rates at its 250,000 tonnes/year biodiesel plant in Teesside, UK, because production had fallen off-spec, the company said on Thursday.

“During the last week, production has fallen marginally outside industry specifications,” a company source said.

“We have therefore reduced rates and put in place a temporary process to return the off-spec product to on-spec quality, which requires a brief period of storage.”

Deliveries were expected to resume progressively from next week.

Biodiesel supply in Europe was currently tight due to ongoing strong demand, which could be further exacerbated by Biofuels’ move.

Prices for rapeseed methyl ester-based biodiesel in Europe were currently assessed in a €760-850/tonne free on board (FOB) Northwest Europe (NWE) range, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS Pricing.
