LONDON (ICIS news)--Belgian company Taminco said on Monday that it had closed the acquisition of Air Products' American amines business.

The amines business, which generated revenues of $310m (€242m) in fiscal year 2006, includes plants at Pace, Florida, St Gabriel, Louisiana, and Camacari, Brazil. The business employs 225 people.

Taminco said that the company's annual turnover would be around $540m.

The amines business produces methylamines and higher amines products used globally in many household, industrial and agricultural products. Taminco is a leading producer of methylamines and methylamine derivatives.

Based in Ghent, Belgium, Taminco was founded in 2003 after separating from UCB.

It subsequently has acquired the methylamines and derivatives business of Air Products in Europe together with a number of commercial contracts and obligations for methylamines and choline chloride from Akzo Nobel.
