SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Kulim produced 24,859 tonnes of palm oil in September this year, a drop of 9.6% over its August output, the Malaysian oleochemicals producer said on Thursday.

Its Malaysian plantations produced 8,048 tonnes and its subsidiary New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL) in Papau New Guinea produced 13,930 tonnes. Kulim owns 80% of NBPOL.

The remaining 2,881 tonnes came from purchased crop, the company said.

Intensive replanting works at both its Malaysian and Papau New Guinean plantations was cited as a possible reason for the drop in production, a company official said.

Kulim’s palm kernel production was also lower last month compared to August. It produced 6,419 tonnes of the crop in September and 7,194 tonnes in August.
