PRAGUE (ICIS news)--The Czech Ministry of Agriculture said on Monday that ongoing political stalemate would prevent legislation to allow the sale of biofuels by January 1, 2007 in line with EU proposals.

“We hope to have a law in place within the first half of next year and then make quick progress towards having biofuels accounting for 5.75% of transport fuels by 2010,” said a ministry spokesman.

“If we don’t make that progress we could face an EU fine.”
