SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Idemitsu Kosan planned to shut one of its naphtha crackers in March next year for maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

The 374,000 tonnes/year cracker in Ichihara, Chiba prefecture, is expected to undergo a turnaround in March for 40-45 days, the source said.

The Japanese petrochemicals producer restarted its No 1 naphtha cracker in Tokuyama, Yamaguchi prefecture on 27 October. It was shut down on 11 September for a turnaround, and had been Idemitsu’s last cracker turnaround scheduled in Japan this year.

Its No 2 cracker at the same site was restarted on 19 October after a turnaround and resumed full production on 20 October, the source said.
