SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Indonesian palm oil major Asian Agri plans to start operating its new 200,000 tonnes/year biodiesel facility by October next year, a company source said on Wednesday.

The $20m (€15m) plant, which uses palm oil as feedstock, will be located next to the company’s palm oil refinery in Lubukgaung, Riau province, he said.

The biodiesel produced will most likely be exported to Asia, Europe and the US, he added.

“We’re optimistic that [many] Asian governments will make bio-energy policies,” the source said, noting that Europe and the US already have such policies.
