SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Kumpulan Fima’s biodiesel unit was under construction and operations were expected to start by July or August 2007, a spokesman for the Malaysian company said on Monday.
When completed, the ringgit (M$) 60m ($16m) plant will have a capacity of 60,000 tonnes/year using palm oil as feedstock, he added.
The spokesman also noted that the plant’s location in Port Klang gives it a strategic advantage in terms of export logistics, as the plant will be directly connected with port facilities via a pipeline to transport biodiesel onto outbound tankers.
He added that Kumpulan Fima’s target export markets are the US, Europe and northeast Asia.
