DUBAI (ICIS news)--Shell is looking to start up its new 1.3m tonne/year ethylene cracker project in Qatar in early 2011 or 2012, a senior company official said on Saturday.
"We are still committed on working with Qatar Petroleum on the project and we are targeting for the start up to be in the early 2011-2012," said Aman Amanpour, president of Shell Chemicals Arabia in an interview with ICIS news.

The cracker will be using ethane as feedstock and supply of ethane will be sourced domestically from
"The final decision about the actual start-up date and month will be reached maybe in the next one to two years," Amanpour said, adding that the project is going on "very well".
