SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Incoprime planned to build a 100,000 tonne/year biodiesel plant in Sabah state, a spokesman from the Malaysian company said on Monday.

The unit was expected to begin operations by the second half of 2008, he added.

Located in the Lahad Datu Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC), the plant will use refined, bleached and deodorised palm oil as feedstock, he said, but declined to reveal the cost of the project.

It was likely that all of the output will be exported to Europe, he added.

POIC Lahad Datu is Malaysia’s first industrial cluster dedicated to biofuel production. Established in 2005 by the Sabah government, it covers an area of 5,000 acre (20.24km2).
