DUBAI (ICIS news)--Iran Petrochemical Commercial Co (IPCC) will be exporting two to three ethylene cargoes from Amir Kabir Petrochemical every month in the next few months, a senior company official said late on Sunday.

“The total volume will be around 10,000-15,000 tonnes/month and will be exported to India and southeast Asia, besides other countries in the Middle East,” MA Zardbani, IPCC's foreign commercial director, said.

He was speaking to ICIS news on the sidelines of the two-day Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals (GPCA) forum.

IPCC could increase its ethylene exports once Marun Petrochemical starts up its cracker, Zardbani said, but he could not say when this will take place.

Since its startup in April, Amir Kabir Petrochemical's 520,000 tonne/year ethylene cracker has been shut down intermittently due to technical problems. It was restarted in November, and has been slowly ramping up its operating rates.

The subsidiary of Iran's National Petrochemical Co (NPC) also operates a 300,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene/linear low density polyethylene (HDPE/LLDPE) swing plant at Bandar Imam. It also runs a 160,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant.

Amir Kabir is also building a 300,000 tonnes/year LDPE unit at Bandar Imam, which is expected to start up in late 2007.

The GPCA forum ended on Sunday.
