MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Sibur-Neftekhim, Sibur Holding's subsidiary in Nizhny Novgorod region, could sign an agreement with Solvay on a PVC joint project early next year, regional authorities said.

The contract could be signed in February 2007, Valery Yevlampiyev, a spokesman for the regional authorities, told journalists in Nizhny Novgorod.

However, Sibur spokesman Rashid Nuriyev declined to confirm these reports.

Earlier this year, Sibur Holding indicated plans to build a €450m ($592.7m) PVC plant with 330,000 tonnes/year nameplate capacity in cooperation with Solvay.

Earlier in December, Nizhny Novgorod regional governor Valery Shantsev said that Sibur and Solvay were expected to finalise the agreement before 20 December, adding that the capacity of the joint PVC project could eventually reach 500,000 tonnes/year.
