LONDON (ICIS news)--Syngenta has formed a 10-year partnership with technology group Diversa to develop enzymes for the production of biofuels, the agrochemicals company said on Monday.
It said San Diego-based Diversa would develop a range of novel enzymes to convert pre-treated cellulosic biomass economically to fixed sugars, which is a critical step during biofuel production.
Under the agreement, Diversa will receive $16m (€13m) for the first two years of research, while Syngenta gains exclusive access to the enzymes for its biofuels activities.
