HOUSTON (ICIS news)--An independent panel reviewing the safety culture at BP will present its report at a press conference in Houston on Tuesday, the group said on Friday.

The panel was formed by BP in response to a request by the US Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board to evaluate its corporate oversight and safety management systems following a March 2005 blast that killed 15 workers at a Texas refinery in Texas City.

Panelists have traveled to each of BP’s five refineries in the US to conduct public meetings and to interview BP employees, the group said in a statement.

During the past year, the panel has interviewed hundreds of other BP employees, conducted an opinion survey of employees and conducted process safety technical reviews at each refinery.

The panel was chaired by former US secretary of state James Baker.
