Johnson Matthey tech for China methanol unit

LONDON (ICIS news)--Qinghai Zhonghao Natural Gas Chemical has selected Johnson Matthey technology and catalysts for a methanol project in Geermu, Qinghai province, China.

 

Due on stream in 2010, the plant will produce 2,000 tonnes/day of methanol from natural gas, a spokesman for Davy Process Technology, a Johnson Matthey subsidiary, said on Wednesday.

 

The plant will use Johnson Matthey/Davy Process Technology advanced steam reforming, methanol synthesis technology and catalysts.

 

Davy Process Technology is conducting basic engineering for the project and China’s Chengda Engineering Corp is conducting the detailed engineering.
