Malaysia to host 12th Asian Chemical Congress

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--The 12th Asian Chemical Congress (ACC) will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 23-25 August 2007, a spokeswoman for the congress organiser said on Thursday.

 

The biennial event, one of Asia’s largest gatherings of scientists and academics, will have as its theme ‘Chemistry for Development, Environment and Sustainability in Asia’, the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry said.

 

The spokeswoman added that a turnout of 1,800-2,000 at the Putra World Trade Centre is expected and that topics such as petrochemistry, biofuels and biopolymers will be discussed.

 

Nobel Laureate Professor F. Sherwood Rowland, of the University of California at Irvine, will also deliver a plenary lecture on ozone layer depletion.

 

Shanghai, China, will host the 13th ACC in 2009.
