Russia to start bioethanol, rapeseed oil production

MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Russia will soon start producing rapeseed oil and bioethanol for the domestic market and to export to Europe, a government official said on Monday.

 

In one-two years time, Russia will produce tens of thousands of tonnes of bioethanol, Agriculture Minister Alexey Gordeyev said. No timeframe was indicated for rapeseed oil production.

 

Russia's VipOil plans to build a new 300,000 tonne/year bioethanol plant in the Volgograd region for €380m ($492.4m), the agriculture ministry said.

 

The authorities in the Krasnodar region, southern Russia, also indicated that there are plans to build a new €15m facility to produce 150,000 tonnes/year of rapeseed oil for export to Europe.
