LONDON (ICIS news)--Petrotec said on Monday it had started building its 100,000 tonne/year biodiesel plant in Emden, northern Germany.

Construction has begun on schedule and the plant was expected to go on-stream in the fourth quarter of 2007, using a feedstock of deep fat frying oil – or yellow grease - supplied by restaurant group McDonalds.

“We are beginning construction work today, a mere four months after filing the initial applications,” said Petrotec chief executive Roger Boing.
