TORONTO (ICIS news)--US pharmaceuticals major Pfizer is looking to sell its Germany-based Heumann PCS site by the fourth quarter of 2007, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

The company will start the process of finding a buyer for the site at Feucht in Bavaria next month.

The site was profitable and had good prospects, Pfizer added, but did not disclose the sales prices it is looking for.

The Feucht site employs 420 people and is focused on active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), fine chemicals and contract manufacturing, according to the Heumann PCS website.

The sale is part of Pfizer’s plan to cut costs and reduce its global workforce.
