SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--A fire broke out at a feed unit within Valero Energy Corp’s 214,000 bbl/day refinery in Texas City on Sunday afternoon, a company spokeswoman said.
The fire, which occurred near Valero’s 83,000 bbl/day fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit, has been put out, spokeswoman Mary Rose Brown said on Monday.
A spokesman from the refinery said the FCC unit was shut for an indefinite period, according to a Reuters report, but Brown could not confirm this.
She said air monitoring was being done to determine the amount of pollution caused by the blaze.
