SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Daiso, Japan’s second-largest epichlorohydrin (ECH) producer, will shut its 35,000 tonne/year unit on 13 March for a turnaround, a company official said on Thursday.
The unit at Mizushima, Okayama prefecture, was expected to restart three weeks later on 5 April, the source added.
The shutdown was not expected to have any major impact on ECH prices in Japan.
Domestic prices are currently stable at yen (Y) 260-265/kg ($2.1-2.2/kg) DEL (delivered) for bulk cargoes.
Daiso also operates a smaller 15,000 tonne/year ECH facility at Matsuyama, Ehime prefecture.
