Celanese's Ticona to build more plants in Asia

TORONTO (ICIS news)--US chemicals maker Celanese said on Monday that its Ticona engineering polymers business was planning investments in new manufacturing plants in Asia.

 

The investments would include world-scale monomer, polymer and compounding production facilities for liquid crystal polymer and polyoxymethylene (POM) products, the company said in a statement.

 

These new investments would support Ticona’s Asia growth strategy.

 

Celanese did not disclose planned capacities, start-up dates, investment sums or country locations. 

 

The company said that the plans for Asia are not associated with the relocation of Ticona's production site in Kelsterbach, Germany.

 

The company previously announced plans to construct production facilities for ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (PE) and long fibre reinforced thermoplastics in China.

 

Media official at Ticona’s US base in Florence, Kentucky were not immediately available for additional comment on Monday.
