Japan’s Jan chemical output up 1.2% from Dec

TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan’s chemical output rose a seasonally-adjusted 1.2% in January compared with the previous month, figures from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed on Wednesday.
Ethylene production in January rose 0.4% to 698,254 tonnes from 695,238 tonnes in December. This was a 1.7% increase from a year earlier, the ministry said.
Propylene output in January was 568,818 tonnes, down 0.2% month-on-month and up 1.9% year-on-year.
The ministry’s index of chemical industry output, excluding drugs, was at 103.1. The index is based on 100 for the average production in 2000.
All values in the following table of Japanese chemical production in January are in tonnes, except naphtha which is in thousands of litres.
