Output down at BASF's MDI Antwerp plant

LONDON (ICIS news)--Output has been reduced at BASF’s methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) plant at Antwerp, Belgium, to mark the start of expansion work which will see capacity upped by 110,000 tonnes/year, a company source said on Wednesday.

 

One of the two trains at the currently 450,000 tonne/year plant was brought down towards the middle of last week. This will be down for around five weeks.

 

The unit’s second train would also be brought down for around one to two weeks during the five week period.

 

The company source said its customers would not be impacted by the reduced output as supplies had been built up in preparation.

 

A precise restart date was not disclosed.
