HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Colombia producer Ecopetrol increased the prices for low density polyethylene (LDPE) 2.5% effective on Tuesday to reflect the latest surge in US Gulf PE prices, a source with the producer said.
The price of domestic bagged LDPE material was set at Colombian pesos (Ps) 3,680/kg, equivalent to $1,649/tonne (€1,254/tonne).
The price of bulk LDPE material was set at Ps3,525/kg ($1,580/tonne), a 2.6% increase over last week.
The above listed prices are for cash transactions, with material delivered at Barrancabermeja, where the production plant is located.
Ecopetrol adjusts prices weekly to keep pace with alternatives from the US Gulf or Asia, and also to meet currency fluctuations.
The Colombian peso was slightly stronger this week at Ps2,231 per US dollar.
