UK’s Defra issues consultation document on Reach

LONDON (ICIS) news--The UK government’s Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has issued a consultation document on proposals for the enforcement of the EU chemical legislation Reach.

 

The UK is required to have an enforcement and penalties regime in place no later than 1 December 2008.

 

The government is encouraging industry, trade unions, environmental groups, health and safety professionals and others to comment on the proposals for enforcement.

 

The closing date for responses is 4 June, after which the government will examine the responses in order to develop the national legislation.
