SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC) has no spot ethylene dichloride (EDC) or vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) for March and April shipment due to its recent turnaround, a company source said on Thursday.

“As our production has not been raised back up to 100% after the shutdown, we will have no EDC and VCM spot material available for March and April. We can only fulfil our contract commitments,” the source said.

The producer completed a turnaround at its 200,000 tonne/year EDC plant and 300,000 tonne/year VCM unit last week.

Recent rumours that Middle East spot material was offered into Asia had raised concerns among Asian market players, as cargoes from the Middle East and America tended to exert downward pressure on regional prices.

Qatar Vinyl is a joint venture of Qatar Petrochemical (Qapco), Norway's Hydro Polymers and France's Arkema.
