Tasnee/Basell jv to start up Saudi PE complex

LONDON (ICIS news)--Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Co (SEPC), a joint venture between Basell and Tasnee & Sahara Olefins Co, expects to start up its ethylene and polyethylene (PE) complex in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia in the fourth quarter of 2008, a Basell spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

 

Basell, which has a 25% stake in the venture, said the project will produce 1m tonnes/year of ethylene, 285,000 tonnes/year of propylene, 400,000 tonnes/year of Hostalen high density polyethylene (hdPE) and 400,000 tonnes/year of Lupotech T low density polyethylene (ldPE).

 

Construction work has commenced by Linde/Samsung Engineering for the cracker and Tecnimont for the PE plants.
