houston (ICIS news)--PotashCorp will resume potash production at its idled Patience Lake facility in Canada’s Saskatchewan province in an effort to boost total potash production, the company said on Friday.

The facility is expected to eventually produce 360,000 tonnes/year of potash, but will produce 240,000 tonnes in 2007, the Canadian potash fertilizer producer said.

About $92m will be invested in new infrastructure to handle the production.

Opening the Patience Lake facility is part of PotashCorp’s efforts to boost total production capacity to 13.5m tonnes by 2010, from 10m tonnes in 2006.

PotashCorp did not provide details on when the facility would reopen.
