NPRA ’07: ExxonMobil expands Beaumont feed slate

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (ICIS news)--ExxonMobil has expanded feedstock flexibility at its Beaumont ethylene cracker in Texas to allow it to run a wider variety of feedstocks,

a senior official said on Monday.

The flexibility project is part of Exxon’s strategy to increase its feedstock advantage by 4-5%/year, Sherman Glass, senior vice president for ExxonMobil Chemical, told ICIS news.

Glass did not give any details about costs of the project.

The Beaumont shut the 827,000 tonne/year unit for a planned two-month turnaround at the end of January.

The feedstock work was undertaken during the turnaround, Glass said on the sidelines of the NPRA petrochemical conference.
