LONDON (ICIS news)--Solvay has started commercial production at its new epichlorohydrin (ECH) plant at Tavaux, France, a company source said on Tuesday.
The first volumes were produced on Monday, said the source, following completion of the initial start-up process and testing.
The plant, which uses Solvay’s patented Epicerol glycerine-to-ECH technique, has a capacity of 10,000 tonnes/year.
Glycerine has been touted as a new feedstock for ECH, rather than the traditional propylene.
