LONDON (ICIS news)--Dow’s styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) plant in Terneuzen, the Netherlands, has gone down for scheduled maintenance work, a company source confirmed on Tuesday.

The unit, which has a capacity of around 34,000 tonnes/year, was brought down on Tuesday.

The work was expected to last around eight to ten days.

Regarding supply to customers, Dow said current stocks were sufficient to cover the period.

However, if there were any delays to the restart, this could create some supply problems.

The company source said SAN demand was high and described the European market as tight.

SAN is commonly used to make various kitchen appliances, such as salad bowls and mixers.
