SHANGHAI (ICIS news)-- Honam Petrochemical's joint venture cracker project with Qatar Petroleum (QP) at Mesaieed is expected to start up only at the end of 2010, a source in the South Korean major said on Tuesday.
The proposed 900,000 tonne/year mixed-feed cracker was originally scheduled to start up in the second half of 2009. The source, speaking on the sidelines of the 3rd ICIS Asian Polymers conference, did not specify the reasons for the one-year delay.
However, market sources said that shortage of contractors were the main reason for the postponement of the start-up date.
The two-day conference ends on Tuesday.
