LONDON (ICIS news)--European polypropylene (PP) producers were considering May price hikes this week as demand remained strong and availability limited, several suppliers said on Friday.

“We are already applying higher prices from this week to avoid buyers procuring material at April prices for May,” said one major PP producer.

Several production issues at the polymer level and tightness upstream in the propylene market have left the PP market tight.

Homopolymer injection prices were close to €1,200/tonne ($1,622/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe) on a gross basis in mid-April, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
