LONDON (ICIS news)--Dutch coatings company Akzo Nobel has opened a new production facility for automotive plastic coatings in Pontiac in Michigan, US, the firm said on Monday.

This expansion adds 11,000 square feet of production space enabling an additional 150,000 gallons of capacity.

It added that an automatic dosing unit (ADU) blending site would reduce batch making times, while at the same time improving the consistency and quality of the products.

In addition to the ADU, the new facility would contain waterborne production capabilities to support the growing interior waterborne coatings segment and position the production capabilities to support future waterborne exterior topcoat activities.
