Gossler Envitec to build 2 plastic recycling plants

BRUSSELS (ICIS news)--A German company specialising in recycling technology for plastics and rubber is planning construction of two new plants in Germany and Poland, its managing director said on Monday.

Gossler Envitec, based at Reinbek, is at the design stage for a 10,000 tonne/year plant in northern Germany and a 3,000 tonne/year unit in Poland.

The German plant will process heavily contaminated mixed polyolefin plastic waste and includes a pre-processing feedstock preparation unit. The Polish plant will process mixed polyolefin waste.

Gossler uses catalytic cracking technology to convert polyolefins or polystyrenes into high quality synthetic food oils, diesel or fuel oils.

Solvents can also be produced with specialised equipment.

Speaking at the sidelines of Identiplas 2007, a two-day conference which concludes today, Gossler’s managing director Michael Gutknecht told ICIS news that start-up for the German plant was scheduled for late 2008 and investments of around €7m ($9.5m) would be required for the 12-14-month project.

The Polish project, which should be operational by the end of 2007, cost between €1.5m-2m.

Gutknecht said he expected his company, founded in 2004, to have sales of €25m per year in three to five years’ time.

He said Gossler was in discussion with companies on projects worth €350m.

He refused to reveal the identities of his clients for these projects.
