SINGAPORE (ICIS news) -- Saudi Aramco has reduced feed rates through facilities at its 550,000 bbl/day Ras Tanura refinery ahead of scheduled shutdown maintenance to start in late April, an industry source said on Wednesday.

The shutdown of a number of major units at the refinery is expected to start on around 26 April and continue through until mid May. Units affected include a 225,000 bbl/day condensate splitter and up 325,000 bbl/day of crude distillation capacity.

Throughputs of feedstock to a 50,000 bbl/day hydrocracker unit which is to be shutdown were reduced earlier in the week, the source said.

Ras Tanura is the most complex of Saudi Aramco’s five domestic refineries. Most of the refinery’s production is for domestic use although some products are exported.
