Japan March C2, derivatives exports up 9.8%

TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan’s exports of ethylene (C2) and ethylene derivatives in March rose 9.8% compared with the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said on Tuesday.

 

The country exported 228,200 tonnes of ethylene and ethylene derivatives in March, up from 207,900 tonnes a month earlier. This was a 12.1% increase from 203,600 tonnes in the year-ago period, the ministry said.

 

Japan imported 30,200 tonnes of ethylene and ethylene derivatives in March, up 14.1% from 26,500 tonnes in February. However, this was a 48.6% decrease from 58,800 tonnes in March 2006.

 

The country exported 647,700 tonnes of ethylene and ethylene derivatives from January to March, a 7.7% increase from 601,000 tonnes a year ago, the ministry said.

 

However, 85,800 tonnes of ethylene and ethylene derivatives were imported during the January-March 2007 period, down 42.7% from 149,900 tonnes year-on-year.
