SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Daiso, Japan’s second-largest epichlorohydrin (ECH) producer, will shut its 15,000 tonne/year facility in Matsuyama, Ehime prefecture, for a three-week turnaround in July, a company official said.

The company had restarted its other 35,000 tonnes/year ECH facility in Mizushima following a three-week maintenance shutdown in March.

Tight supply in Japan has spurred some domestic producers to propose a yen (JPY) 20/kg increase to JY 270/kg delivered for May contracts.
