SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Liquid epoxy resin (LER) import prices rose for the second straight month in China on the back of firm feedstock bisphenol A (BPA) and epichlorohydrin (ECH) values, producers and traders said on Tuesday.

Drummed LER cargoes for May lifting were heard sold at $2,950-3,000/tonne CFR (cost and freight) China this month, up $30-50/tonne from April deals.

“It’s a normal seasonal pick-up after a sluggish first quarter but we should see more demand because there is usually pre-buying interest when prices are going up,” said a global producer.

Producers also said they did not rule out further hikes next month if raw material prices continued to increase, though offers for June shipments have yet to be announced.

BPA prices were up $20-50/tonne at $1,920-1,990/tonne CFR northeast Asia last week, while ECH prices gained $30/tonne to $1,950-1,980/tonne CFR China during the same period, according to global chemicals market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
