HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazil’s March ethanol exports through the Santos port totalled 103,459 tonnes, a 34% increase from a year earlier, the port authority said on Wednesday.

However, exports fell by 31% when compared with 150,187 tonnes in February, the Santos port said.

First-quarter ethanol exports totalled 384,028 tonnes, up 67% from 229,386 tonnes in the same months of 2006, the port authority said.

Santos is the main outlet for exports from Brazil’s centre-south region, which accounts for 85% of the country’s ethanol production.
