SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Saudi Methanol Company’s proposed fifth 1.7m tonne/year methanol line dubbed Ar-Razi 5 is on track to begin production in the first quarter of 2008, said a company source on Thursday.
The company runs four other methanol production lines at the same site - Ar-Razi 1 and 2 produce 640,000 tonnes/year each and Ar-Razi 3 and 4 produce 850,000 tonnes/year apiece.
Ar-Razi 1 is due for a 20-day maintenance turnaround at the end of June, while Ar-Razi 2 would be shut for a similar period in July, said the source.
Lines three and four would be shut for maintenance in November or December, added the source.
Saudi Methanol is an equal joint venture of Japan Saudi Arabia Methanol Company and Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC).
