Dow stockholders reject proposals

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical stockholders on Thursday rejected four proposals submitted by their peers.

One stockholder proposal requested a report listing initiatives that would address survivors of the Union Carbide accident in Bhopal, India.

Another proposal would have required Dow to report on how it was controlling any potentially bad effects of genetically-engineered seeds.

A third proposal sought an update on a remediation project of waterways downstream from Dow's plant in Midland, Michigan.

The last proposal would have required Dow to establish an independent panel to analyse whether any of the company's products could aggravate asthma symptoms.

Dow shareholders also re-elected 11 company board members to one-year terms. Former chief financial officer J. Pedro Reinhard, who was fired last month on allegations of holding unauthorised talks to sell the company, had been removed from the election list.
