LONDON (ICIS news)--Solvay will close its 56,000 tonne/year epichlorohydrin (ECH) plant at Rheinberg, Germany, for a two-week unplanned turnaround in August, a company source said on Tuesday.
Problems at the plant had been reported at the beginning of the week beginning 14 May, although a source at Solvay said that there had not been any significant effect on output.
“We are concentrating on fulfilling our current contracts,” the source said, adding that the company did not intend on selling any extra volume before the turnaround.
It was not believed that the turnaround will have a significant impact on the market at this time.
