SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--India’s Reliance Industries will shut its No 2 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit in Hazira for about 10 days at the end of May for maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.?xml:namespace>
The company also completed the two-week turnaround of its No 1 plant at the same site between April and early May and has resumed full operations.
Reliance operates a total of three PTA lines at Hazira, each with a nameplate capacity of 510,000 tonnes/year.
“The restart of the [No 1] line was very smooth and now everything is running,” said the source, referring to all three units at the complex.
The source added that supplies to contract customers were not affected by the shutdowns but that they had contributed to the currently tight market for PTA in ?xml:namespace>
