TAIPEI (ICIS news)--Russia, eastern Europe, the Middle East and Turkey could be potential export destinations for Asian polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the assistant vice president of Formosa Plastics said on Friday.

Increasing downstream demand in these regions into building sectors could help absorb some of the material which had formerly been destined for China, Shao-Ter Chen said at the APIC PVC committee meeting..

The profiles sector in particular was mentioned as a target market by participants at the meeting. The profiles market represents 20% of PVC demand in Europe and the US.

Increased domestic production in China as it looks to meet a 10% per year growth rate has meant that traditional exporters to the country such as Japan, Taiwan and Korea are looking to find other export destinations.
