TORONTO (ICIS news)--Ticona, the engineering polymers business of US chemicals maker Celanese, plans to build a new customer application development centre in Shanghai, it said on Tuesday.

The centre would support the growing use of the company's products in China and throughout Asia in the automotive, appliance, electronic, and other industrial and consumer markets.

It was expected to open in 2008, Ticona said.

The company has similar customer centres in Germany and the US, it said.

On Monday, Ticona started construction at two new plants in Nanjing, China.
